We are officially Baton Rouge residents. We bought a house! Special thanks to real estate agent Janet Dicharry for sticking with us and for helping us to find our dream-home. And thank you to Suzanne Ruch, Mortgage Loan Originator at SWBC for securing our financing! Y’all rock!
“A Catch-22, coined by Joseph Heller in his novel Catch-22, is a logical paradox arising from a situation in which an individual needs something that can only be acquired by not being in that very situation; therefore, the acquisition of this thing becomes logically impossible.”
So, it seems we can’t get pre-approved for a home loan in Baton Rouge because my wife is starting a brand new job and hasn’t received a paycheck yet (so technically, she doesn’t have a job yet, even though she was offered one by the State Government of Louisiana.). This, despite the fact that our combined income is about $160k and we have a perfect credit score (not to mention the fact that she was at her last job for 10 years).
Remember the days when banks were giving away loans, no questions asked? Not anymore.
So catch-22. We can only move to Baton Rouge after we have actually moved to Baton Rouge.
Makes me wonder why we need a real estate agent at all.
Maybe Louisiana Mayor Bobby Jindal will come to the rescue and get us to Baton Rouge sooner rather than later.
UPDATE: We were finally approved with my wife’s offer letter. I called a loan officer from Chase Bank this morning in Baton Rouge to try and secure a mortgage loan from a different institution, but they never bothered to return my call. Their loss. We’re qualified through SWBC now, thanks to Suzannes’s hard work.
UPDATE: Thank you, Bobby.
